Colored sand is formed by first dyeing fine sand, then firing and solidifying it into colored blocks. These blocks are manually ground to create small particles. With particles ranging from 80 to 120 mesh, the color saturation is high, resulting in vibrant colors for cloisonné paintings. The advantages of colored sand include its affordable price, vivid colors, and suitability for beginners' practice. However, a potential drawback is that the colors may fade over time.

Enamel powder, on the other hand, is ground from natural mineral pigments, and the rarity of different-colored minerals contributes to varying prices. Some colors can be costly.
